What is spirit, exactly?

i've always wondered that.

recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.

cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

the impelling force that issues from a person's figurative heart and that causes him to say and do things in a certain way; inspired utterances originating with an invisible source; spirit persons; God's active force, or holy spirit.

How does a real "spiritual" force flow from a "figurative" heart or a figurative anything?

Last nights show was really great...my kids were fascinated to learn about why land moved around over a long time. What got to me was how inspiring it is to me to change my environment to be more condusive to simplicity and keeping the earth clean. And i think there are exciting things on the forefront for solar power--just have that feeling.

Whatd you think about it?

so theists why did god create these and why does he co tinue to allow them?

Seraphim--do you believe in the God of the Bible?

he claims perfection, Love......yet youre right he has allll the emotions and "imperfections"--jealousy, hatred, a need for jusification, etc etc

So is he limited? He claims he isnt. To me, it means either:

1) God is an invention of the human mind (read any fantastical, yet realistic and believable books?)

2) Or he is what you said: good and bad....and a liar if he indeed did give people divine talent to explain his traits.

3)He is what he is and we are the ones who have exaggerated him.

Wonder of you--then how does he have the right to punish anyone? Look at it like this if you wish:

God created Adam and Eve with free will. He tells them they shouldnt eat of the tree of knowledge of good and bad. He says theyll die if they do. He doesnt tell them what death is or what it try means to eat of the fruit. Yet he punishes them after they listen to a talking snake that convinces them to eat it....makes all snakes go without legs afyer that and eat dust (they eat animals, right?). But he doesnt punish satan till he allows him to test us to our deaths for thousands of years and yadda yadda.

which part of any of this is loving?

To me, gods ego beats his love for us because he got into a d*ck measuring contest with satan whom he couldve destroyed in the first place and save us all the BS.

Yel you andwered it seraphim, god created evolution and the weather and death and evil....woops yet hes a loving God, has all the power to stop it yet doesnt....hmmm. Yet wants us to be something even he cant be.....

No objective...and especially not if the flood happened when most christians say....did they inbreed koalas and kangaroos in australia? And youre number 1) is downright wonky....whats a spiritual cubit?
